After making an appearance in Jay-Z’s Picasso Baby, Marina Abramovic is rubbing elbows with yet another pop-culture icon. Last week at a three-day retreat in upstate New York, Abramovic was joined by Lady Gaga where they both participated in The Abramovic Method. While some diehard art enthusiasts are beginning to raise their “sellout” brows, the video is still an inviting window into how the Abramovic Method works.
Now, for those of you are saying, ‘the Abramo-what?’, the Abramovic Method is “a series of exercises designed to heighten participants’ awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment.” The exercises will be featured in different chambers at the Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI) and is currently trying to raise the money for the institute via Kickstarter.
