MC Nitty Scott requests that you “respect my photosynthesis” on her track, “Flower Child.” It opens up with some dusty drums knocked into place and hypnotic harps that coalesce throughout. It feels like I’m walking in the spring with cartoon bluebirds flying by my head and squirrels dashing past my feet. Scotts’ raps are crisp, wordy and well thought out. She’s the cool, calm contrast to her bonsai contemporaries like Nicki Minaj or Azealia Banks. In the video she’s laying in a bathtub, smirking, working on her “abstract craft,” or walking through New York in her “bohemian daze.” Kendrick Lamar shows up for a loose chorus and a coarse verse. “Flower Child” is available on iTunes off The Boombox Diaries Vol. 1 EP.
