Quiet Lunch paid a visit to Brilliant Champions for their inaugural exhibition, Tomorrow’s Today. The exhibition features new works from Brooklyn based artists Derek WeisbergKimia Ferdowsi Kline and Matthew Craven. We had a chat with curator Jillian Mackintosh and she had this to say:

“We’ve been building out Brilliant Champions for the last few months and are so happy to finally open our doors! We are excited to be exhibiting our favorite established and emerging artists and growing in our curatorial practice. We have invited New York based artists and curators to help form our program for the year and it is developing into melting pot of aesthetics, mediums and diverse perspectives.”

The space was quite quaint. Formerly a motorcycle repair shop, the open garage door took advantage of the moderately warm December weather and allowed patrons and passersby to wander right on in. Mackintosh, who was wearing a warm smile that radiated with a sense of accomplishment, continued:

“We use a variety of methods to construct engaging and compelling ideas, content, and experiences, so for us it’s the gallery program is a great way to interact with the public in a closer way. Brilliant Champions Gallery is part of Brilliant Champions LLC, a film and video production company. From creative production to curating fine art, our focus is on championing every project with beauty, innovation and heart.”

So, if you’re in the Bushwick area, feel free to stop by Brilliant Champions (5 Central Avenue) and check out Tomorrow’s Today. The exhibition will be on display until December 21st.
