After long a hiatus, Spike Lee is back in full effect with his new offering, Red Hook Summer. Many have prematurely sired it as the indirect sequel to Spike’s early masterpiece, Do the Right Thing. The story revolves around a young lad from Atlanta who is sent to Red Hook, Brooklyn to spend the summer with his grandfather whom he never met.
Slated for an August (August 10th to be exact) general release, Spike shot the movie in 3 weeks on a thin budget. The self financed film sees a return to his early guerrilla filming style and promises to be worth the wait.
