As if the office didn’t already feel like a tomb, Mr. Toledano shows us an even grimmer side of office life–its death. Not all businesses are successful; and when they do fail, what was once a bustling hive of ambition and broken dreams becomes of a graveyard of empty cubicles, abandoned furniture, and unused office supplies.
Toledano’s Bankrupt is a series of photographs capture recently abandoned office spaces that are no longer occupied. Toledano took the photographs from 2001 to 2003. He thought he was documenting a rare collapse of the American economy, but little did he know, it was just the tip of the iceberg.
