With the exception of museums and galleries, an individual’s experience with art is often a private and candid one. Rarely is the art community afforded the privilege and the opportunity to gather and collectively show their love for the arts. Art is often spread across different locations, left to be interpreted by their respective audiences, but Art Basel Miami Beach 2012 sees a supreme unification of brilliant works from all over the world.
At first we weren’t very impressed with Art Basel Miami. Our friends and peers were buzzing, but we never truly considered leaving the schizophrenic weather of New York City for the inviting warmth of Miami. It took an invite from United Colors of Benetton to drag us out of our skyscraper cluttered cave. Beside, aside from having a few writers/correspondents littered throughout the green earth, we’ve never purposefully left our hometown to cover such a big event.
Not often is one given the key to a kingdom of talent, vision and inspiration–we were grateful for the opportunity and couldn’t wait to share the experience with our readers. We couldn’t take you with us, but hopefully our documentation makes up for our inability to purchase close to a million plane tickets. Stay tuned for more to come!
