Russia has been receiving a healthy amount of press lately: the Edward Snowden ordeal, Obama and Putin’s “strained” relations, and so on. Perhaps the most alarming policy issue of all is Russia’s completely lack of tolerance for the LGBTQ community. The country’s harsh attitude and draconian anti-gay legislature is making headlines and many are coming out in protest, including actress Tilda Swinton.
In direct violation of Russia’s new homosexual propaganda bill, Swinton risked arrest by holding up a rainbow flag in protest while in front of St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow. Swinton is now asking everyone to help her protest go further by sharing the photo across the interwebs and captioning the photo:
‘In solidarity. From Russia with love.’
