Nothing says unconventional in a piece of artwork like obstruction of the face. Clare Elsaesser is all about the flowers and could care less about you trying to read the emotion of the painting through the eyes of the subject. Elsaesser coaxes you into playing a cheeky guessing game, urging you to wonder about the face hidden behind a vibrant army of flowery dashes.
Born in Pasadena, California, Elsaesser went to Boston for college, at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Having since returned to California where she lives with her artist husband, Elsaesser’s work is said to be inspired by “daydreams, retreat and the formidable nature outside my window.”
Quiet Lunch is a grassroot online publication that seeks to promote various aspects of life and culture with a loving, but brute, educational tinge. When we say, “Creative Sustenance Daily,” we mean it.
