The song, produced by Fisticuffs, is blissfully soaked with Aiko’s syrupy signature sound–but there is an intriguing element involved this time around. Aiko’s alter ego, J. Hennessy, makes a cameo, spitting a light-footed verse penned by Kendrick Lamar.
“Stay Ready” is multilayered yet cohesive with the tempo, and overall vibe, switching gears seamlessly. The added rap verse only enhances the fluidity of the tune.
