We recently discovered a photographic series by Elin Karlsson called The Prologue. The series is purposefully stoic and artfully deserted. Karlsson’s work straddles the line between the real and surreal. She subtly injects her body of work with an offbeat serum that gives it strange life.
“In ‘Prologue’ I use photos and text to tell the story of an incident that took place in a sleepy settlement in rural Sweden almost 14 years ago. At the centre of the story is two children with a naïve lust for adulthood. The work reflects on the precarious politics of small towns and tensions within the family; a place that is full of love yet still unsafe.”
