Straddling the line between new age Caravaggism and the occult, Italian painter Roberto Ferri uses the aesthetics of the Old Masters as a brilliant front for his surrealistic agenda. Ferri flirts with appropriation but stops short of being gimmicky. His style is dramatic, symbolic and marinated in bitter violence and sweet romance. Ferri’s use of a mythological concepts furthers the painter’s already powerful narrative.
