The Judy Rifka Project and The Jay Milder Catalog Raisonné Project recently joined forces at The Yard, presenting a storied dialogue between the two artists’ works. The inaugural brunch, produced by Amstel Gallery and curator Gregory de la Haba, also featured legendary jazzman Bob Mover. Mover’s sweet notes wafted through The Yard as attendees treated themselves bagels & cream cheese and chilled Brooklyn Brown Ale.

Rifka, an intermedia artist who is famous for her witty aesthetic and her key involvement in New York City’s postmodern art movement, was in attendance and all smiles as she greeted family, friends and strangers alike. Milder’s work played nicely with Rifka’s pieces; his expressionistic vigor provided a welcomed change of visual pace. De la Haba and Amstel made beautiful use of the space, allowing Rifka’s and Milder’s works their respective room to breathe while still urging them to coexist and maintain some proximal intimacy.

Speaking of the space, The Yard’s newest facility is deceptively commodious. Tucked right near Herald Square at 106 West 32nd Street, the space is certainly much roomier than their other locations and features TKTS-like stairs that give folks an interesting spot to congregate and have a bite to eat.

Check out our recap of the wonderful brunch that took place. Some special guest included Lori Zimmerman of Art Nerd, multimedia artist Marjan Moghaddam, painters Agni Zotis and Billy the Artist along with Whitehot‘s own Noah Becker who was invited to jam with Mover.
