Ai Campbell

[su_dropcap style=”flat” size=”4″]A[/su_dropcap]i Campbell doesn’t cry over spilled ink. In fact, she rejoices in its liberation. Born in Japan and currently living and working in Brooklyn, Campbell’s work is a visual metaphor for societal structure.

How so?

Campbell’s pieces consist of two elements. The first layer of her work–the ink–runs wild and free; mirroring the human psyche and capturing the aesthetic of happenstance. The illustration, the second layer in which she applies after the ink has dried, provides latent structure and a wandering narrative. Through her process, Campbell sparks a correspondence between the tamed and the untamable.

You can find Ai Campbell’s work at FLUX Fair at Location 111.
