In the second volume of his series, What Makes Us Humans? Vol. 2, Juan Arata addresses migration. Human beings have always been nomadic. No matter how much we adopted the practice of settling down and taking root, we could never ignore the urge to discover experiences and explore options elsewhere. But, according to modern day sociopolitics, the natural habit of migrating has been morphed into a pseudo taboo referred to as immigration.

Is this a natural progression or is it multiculturalism cloaked in xenophobia? Arata’s installation, a typographic sand sculpture reading “The Only Way To Walk Forward Is To Erase Your Own History,” allows the audience to take part in finding the answer.
