Kwesi Abbensetts’s first solo exhibition opened at Brilliant Champions Gallery. Subtle detail lies in the layers of his photographic collages, while maintaining the graphic edge that distinguishes his work. His espousal of intuition as his leading force pays off in each of the portraits of Water Me. Black bodies, florals, and rich patterns form the images and reflect back Abbensetts’s Caribbean origins in what he refers to as “Revisionary Self Appropriation.”
