Recently, Supreme introduced their Basquiat Capsule Collection. Included in their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, Jean-Michel Basquiat’s work will adorn a series of button-up shirts, M-65 jackets, sweatshirts, white and black t-shirts, and hoodies. Supreme chose to keep garments rather simple, allowing for Basquiat’s work to truly standout.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Jean-Michel Basquiat, he is a famous artist who rose to prominence in the early 80s. First making a name for himself in the late 70s as a street artist going by the name SAMO, Basquiat soon captivated the entire art world with his work, which often centered around race and class. Even pop art legend Andy Warhol was taken in by Basquiat’s work. Since his untimely death in 1988, Basquiat has been highly regarded as one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
The collection is available in-store in NY, LA, and London and will be available online on September 26th. It will also be available in Japan on September 28th. Learn more about the collection → HERE. ←
