Halsey McKay Gallery is proud to present,
November’s Bone a group exhibition with sixteen artists, who inform, but do not dictate, the spirit of their work with the history of social and political unrest. Free from the bombastic rhetoric of campaign trails, this group applies a kind of sleight of hand, with virtuosic craft, aesthetic sheen, beauty, and formal presentation, employed to mask more subversive undertones. The sculpture, painting, video and photographic works included are guided by ghost currents of rural, suburban and metropolitan ethos and take on the agency of early empires to the present day. Rather than for the sake of dogma, hyperbole or shock, these artists elevate their projects beyond ‘gotcha’ moments and invite authentic introspection and reflection on our current state.
OPENING RECEPTION: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2:00 – 4:00PM
LOCATION: 79 NEWTOWN LANE, EAST HAMPTON, NEW YORK
NOVEMBER 19, 2016 – JANUARY 16, 2017
