“Nas Album Done,” which appears on DJ Khaled’s number one album Major Key is a collaborative gem. The video, which features gyrating and beautiful women, coupled with a scenic Bahamian backdrop, is not enough to sway attention from Nas’ entrenched lyricism. The Dancehall legend and actor, Louie Rankin, who portrayed the prolific role of Ox, in Hype Williams’ 1998 film, Belly, even blessed the duo with a cameo.

Heeding the task of challenging the culture, throughout the Eif Rivera-directed visual, both God’s Son and Beat Novacane demonstrate self-awareness. Concerning generational poverty, afflicted sixteens are structured to provoke thought about self and community betterment. They reflect the societal angst built upon melanin-enriched souls.

Ending the cinematic short with a crescendo, Nas proclaims, I’m playing chess with babies / Niggas is nursery / Niggas impersonatin’, rehearsin’ me / Nothing like me, I’m the first of me and that’s quite certainly / So official, come get this issue!”

Now, press play!
