Born in Cuneo, Italy, Fabio Viale is remixing his country’s artistic heritage with his piece, Souvenir Gioconda. A take on Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Viale’s Souvenir Gioconda appears to be made from styrofoam but is in fact made from marble. Yes, we too found it mind-blowing. Viale’s attention to detail and well executed mimicry of styrofoam makes it impossible to believe that this piece is made from marble.
