Common Threads at The Rubin Museum of Art.

In The Menu, Visual Arts by Quiet Lunch

Common Threads will bring together artists, philanthropists, and refugee activists to celebrate what we share through fashion, art, and storytelling. It will be an evening of traditional styles, the modern designs they inspire, and cutting edge garments influenced by the reality of refugees. Common Threads is being presented in partnership with The Rubin Museum of Art.

The event is honoring six resettled refugees (5 female, 1 gay male), each honoree is paired with an influential persona who will read their story aloud. The countries represented will be Burkina Faso, Pakistan, Mauritania, India, Nepal and The Dominican Republic. Speakers will also include Mary Alice Stephenson and Shahzia Sikander. Common Threads takes place Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at The Rubin Museum of Art (150 West 17th Street).
