The Cure?

Check out this video by Diddo called, “The Cure for Greed,” an artfully crafted video demonstrating one artist’s idea of how to make the cure for greed. Take from it what you will, but we don’t see the connection between injecting oneself with trace elements of money in order to cure greed. How is making money into an injection supposed to cure greed?

If such a thing were scientifically possible, then wouldn’t such an injection only make you more susceptible to it? Or is the artist taking the vaccination approach, where you inject a dead form of the disease in order to prevent a person from actually getting sick. By that logic, greed would be a curable thing, like a disease. In fact the medical and scientific nature of this video treats greed like a malady, like a disease, and more importantly, like something for which there is a remedy.

On this, we must disagree with the artist. Greed is not a disease unless human nature is a disease too. Greed is one of our nastier traits, but traits cannot be cured, undone, or corrected in the way that a disease can be treated or a contusion mended. Greed, like anger, is one of those parts of human nature that must be tamed, rather like a predator, who takes without regard for the needs of others, only the needs of self.

  1. Hi,
You should read the Artist statement.
It seems you actually are both saying the same thing.
