Nina Simone once proclaimed that it is the artist’s responsibility to reflect the times. New York City is on the verge of experiencing a potentially monumental shift in mayoral leadership and in true artist fashion, Caryn Cast has captured the current political climate to a delightful tee in her latest “Jerry for Zohran” print. Residing in Gotham herself, Cast lets you know exactly where she stands with her vote, depicting our “national bird,” the pigeon, with a handheld fan in its left wing, wearing a democratic blue t-shirt that reads:
“Zohran for New York City”

Affectionately named Jerry the Pigeon, he braved the heatwave to vote therefore executing his right to take part in this city’s political process. Now, for those of you who may not be up to speed, Zohran Mamdani recently won the primary election. A rematch is on the horizon but the city and its citizens seem to have spoken loud and clear when it comes to who they want at the helm of the ship. The Ugandan-born politician represents a more socialist approach that puts the working class first and embrace an economically friendly city that supports the well being of those who live in it.

Jerry print is now available as an 8.5” X 11” print and 16” X 20” poster. Proceeds from the Jerry for Zohran print go towards the Zohran for mayor campaign in the general election, and to the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit for LGBTQ+ young people, whose funding was recently terminated by the Trump organization.
Be the ever thoughtful creative that she is, Cast kept the economy and our pockets in mind with prints starting as low as $15. Be sure to get one while they still last and own your vivid piece of history today!

The piece truly embodies a certain New York attitude and sensibility. Cast has mentioned that Jerry has been living his best life for awhile now. See, this isn’t Jerry’s first rodeo. Far from it! We reached out to Caryn and asked about Jerry’s well documented past and the artist had this to say:
“Jerry the Pigeon is a character I created several years ago. He loves pizza and skateboarding, among other pigeon things. On occasion he likes to dip his wing into politics, with a brief run for president, endorsing candidates, even cloning himself onto Mount Rushmore!”
